Fighting the Odds: The Marilyn Gambrell Story plot

Marilyn Gambrell and her colleague want to start a pioneering program for underprivileged children in one of America's most violent schools. Her goal is to prevent the children of prisoners from facing the same fate. To do this, she has to endure a lot of criticism and skepticism from her colleagues and also has to earn the respect of her students. To everyone's surprise, the program appears to work. However, the school board warns Marilyn and her colleague that the program can only continue if all participating students have passed their final exams and graduate with their classmates.
