"Two Strangers in a Strange Land."
Two German brothers, Uwe (Uwe Ochsenknecht) and Gustav (Gustav Peter Wöhler), struggle with a major mid-life crisis. Gustav thinks he has found the solution in meditation and the teachings of Zen Buddhism. He prepares for a trip to Japan to spend some time in a traditional Zen monastery. Uwe lives only for his work, but when he is abandoned by his wife, he decides to go headlong with Gustav. In a hectic Tokyo, the men are immediately put to the test. They lose their way to their hotel and have to survive in the ultramodern urban jungle without a credit card, passport or knowledge of the language. Once in the monastery, the hardships really start. Without comfort and stimulants they make endlessly long days during which, in addition to meditating a lot, they especially have to scrub a lot of floors.
