Teenager Kaitlynn [Friede Barnhard] decided a long time ago that she wanted to end her life. Since a failed suicide attempt, her best friend Jade [Dylan Jongejans], who has been living with Kaitlynn and her father [Juda Goslinga] since her mother left for Canada, rarely leaves her side. But the euthanasia process continues to drag on and because autistic Kaitlynn can barely express her inner feelings, both professionals and acquaintances continue to doubt whether her suffering is unbearable enough to allow euthanasia. But this compelling and moving psychological drama mainly shows how difficult it is for Jade to bring her head (which wants to help Kaitlynn achieve her goal) and her heart (which feels the pain of the impending loss) together. The scenario by Aliefka Bijlsma and Ellen Barendregt is based on a true story and shows in a nuanced way why voluntary euthanasia is a social, but also a deeply personal issue. Barnhard, Jongejans, Goslinga and Tamar van den Dop (as doctor Rebecca) do an excellent job in this strongly directed, but never sentimental tearjerker.

Very beautiful and moving film.

I personally work with 'normally gifted' people with a form of autism. And I sometimes know how difficult it is for them to live in a world where information is processed differently than by people without autism.

It's a shame that I often hear a lot of complaining about Dutch films, and that (almost) nobody watches this one. Because then you can hardly help but say that this is actually very well acted. Especially Dylan Jongejans, he acts so naturally! Big compliments.
