Eliana, Eliana plot
"Pride and Compassion in a Taxi Ride"
Mothers and daughters - and women trying to survive in the city. Eliana, a young woman from Sumatra who has been living in Jakarta for five years, goes out for a night with her mother, Bunda, from whom she has been estranged for five years. It's been a tough day for Eli: she's harassed by a man at work, rent has to be paid, and her three-year-old roommate, Heni, appears to have left her. Heni is Eli's anchor, like a sister to her, and now that she's gone and her mother has just arrived makes it difficult for Eliana. She and her mother rent a taxi and look for Heni. By dawn Eli will answer and, perhaps, have regained strength.
