El Pallasso i el Führer plot
The Catalan clown Charlie Rivel (1896-1983) performs in Copenhagen when the Germans occupy Denmark. The Hitler regime forces him to return to Berlin in order to fulfill his contract with theaters in Berlin. Rivel had unprecedented success and soon became one of the stars of the Third Reich. In 1944, during one of his performances at the Berlin Scala, Gestapo agent Krauss "invites" him to give a performance in honor of Hitler's birthday. Krauss, who admires Rivel, wants to stand by his side on the stage, along with assistant Witzi. Against their will, they accept the invitation. Witzi, in particular, whose Jewish wife was murdered by the Gestapo, can hardly suppress his horror and hatred for Krauss and all that he represents.
