El Maestro plot

Don Juan Merino is a schoolteacher in a small village in Galicia and a widower with an eight-year-old son, Antonio. He applies for a transfer to Madrid to teach at the “Santa Maria” school. In the capital, he hopes for better opportunities for his son. He has big plans and many illusions, but when the boy is killed in an accident, his world comes crashing down.
