El Evangelio de las Maravillas plot

The film revolves around a sect, New Jerusalem, which consists of a bizarre collection of outcasts, fringe figures and religious madmen. At the gate of the tented camp stands an officer with some soldiers, including a cousin who shows all the signs of homosexuality. Inside, Mama Dorita (Jurado) and her old Hollywood movie-addict husband Papa Basilio (Rabal) preach the faith.
