Ein Weites Herz - Schicksalsjahre einer Deutschen Familie plot

The Vermehren family stays together, even when daughter Isa provokes Nazis at her graduation party and is therefore unable to practice the teaching profession. Now she wants to become a comedian, but her mother Petra is not really enthusiastic about it. Isa Vermehren perseveres, continues as a singer and falls in love with the show pianist Lawrence Weber during the joint performances. It is shortly before the Second World War and these are turbulent times with political unrest and social changes.
