Dream of a Shadow plot

A brilliant inventor, who was never taken seriously in his profession, has stopped working after the death of his father. In a fit of jealousy, he tries to strangle his successful wife. He withdraws and hopes, by not speaking anymore, to give his life a new meaning. Then the woman makes the remarkable decision to give up her career and follow her husband into the simplicity of marriage.
