It's only the first week of the school year when history teacher Ilya Semyonovich tells the principal that he wants to take a break. His class suspects that the young English teacher who is just starting out, who is also an old student of his, may be the reason. But the secretive Ilya is mostly disappointed in what he can teach the students. An incident in the Russian class puts the matter on edge.
