"A troubled music manager on the edge returns from Los Angeles to North Carolina to care for his sick father."

Jackson White has never had a hard time: he is attractive, intelligent and sporty. When he arrives in New York to embark on a musical career, his ambition soon turns into a backstabbing competition to see who can make the most money. Gradually he becomes addicted to making money and doesn't really know who he really is anymore. When his father is dying, he returns home.
