Doctor Thorne plot

1855. Mary, the poor niece of Doctor Thomas Thorne, discovers that she is the illegitimate child of Thomas Thorne's late brother. She also falls in love with Frank Gresham, heir to the Greshambury estate. However, his mother does not want to know anything about it and wants to link Frank to a wealthy American heiress. Doctor Thorne meanwhile takes care of a man with an alcohol problem.
