Die Wüstenrose plot

In the early twentieth century, the young doctor Klara (Birge Schade) arrives at a medical center in Africa, where she comes to assist the somewhat skeptical head Kumerow (Brian O'Shaughnessy). His son Martin (Ralf Bauer) falls for her, but she sees more in a local farmer who saves her from a runaway horse. Just as she wants to start her life there, she is fired for providing medical aid to a Negro boy. She is sent to a mission in the middle of the desert, which she finds destroyed. She decides to fix it up to help the poor population.
