Die Samenhändlerin plot
Württemberg, 1850. While searching for her great love, Helmut Kerner, from whom she is expecting a child, the young and confident Hannah Brettschneider ends up in a small town at the foot of the Swabian Jura Mountains. Gönningen is home to the 'seed traders', who have been doing business in tulip bulbs and flower and vegetable seeds for at least two centuries. But Hannah's enthusiasm for this special place does not last long: Helmut, from whom she is expecting the baby, is engaged to Seraphine, the prettiest girl in the village. His mother Wilhelmine does not want the engagement to be broken under any circumstances, but his father Gottlieb sees this differently…
