Die Entdeckung der Currywurst plot
Spring 1945. The Allies are in front of Hamburg. Lena Brückner, a middle-aged woman, meets the newly arrived naval soldier Hermann Breiner in front of a cinema during the 'End Camp for the Home Front'. After a night of love, Lena offers the young man to hide him in her house during the last days of the war. In this way they start a perilous adventure that they must above all keep a secret from the outside world. As Lena blossoms over the next few weeks, the incarcerated Hermann lives with a constant fear. Nevertheless, Lena will never betray her lover, even when the war is over. She wants to stay with him for as many days as possible, together on their 'Mattress Island', while everything outside is changing...
