Der Gang in die Nacht plot
dr. Egil Boerne (Olaf Fonss) leaves his fiancée Helene (Erna Morena) for dancer Lily (Gudrun Bruun Stephensen). He goes to live with Lily in a small fishing village. Here he performs a successful eye surgery on a young painter (Conrad Veidt), who is slowly going blind. After the surgery, Lily confesses that she and the painter are lovers and she leaves the house. Years later, Lily returns to Boerne to beg him to operate on the painter again, as his vision has continued to deteriorate. Boerne is the only one who can help him, but will he be willing to do this?
