Der Blaue Nachtfalter plot

Once-celebrated opera singer Julia Martens is released from prison after 13 years. The reason for this long sentence was that she became a blackmailer to save her husband, the esteemed consul Martens, from a scandal. Her husband died a year after the verdict, because he could not overcome the hard blow. The long years behind bars have numbed Julia emotionally, due to the suffering she has experienced. Their son Thomas is now an adult. The young man will take over his father's factory in the near future and in the meantime lives with his mother-in-law. While Julia, after a long search, finally finds work in the nightclub 'De Blauwe Mot', Thomas still thinks his mother has passed away.
