Deadweight plot
Ahti Ikonen is a reliable captain in command of the 35,000-ton container vessel Brugge, which is entering the port of Savannah in the US, behind schedule. The loading of the ship is done in a hurry, led by the ambitious Romanian officer Katia, so that the ship can sail on time. During this semi-legal procedure, the Filipino sailor James has an accident. Ikonen has to bear the consequences of his orders: dock workers in the port of Rotterdam take advantage of this incident and refuse to unload the ship. The captain is trapped between the front lines.
