De Ketelmannen plot

An old man leads a hermitage on Schiermonnikoog. The man has not been seen since his wife's death. His only contact with the outside world is his 11-year-old granddaughter, who visits him daily to bring food and walk the dog. The old man is ill and does not have long to live, but he does not dare to tell his granddaughter. He prefers to tell her about the legend of the four Cauldrons, who were shipwrecked and are said to still haunt the island.
