Das Puppenheim in Pinnow plot
16-year-old Steffi falls in love with Norbert, whom she knows from visiting his grandfather in Pinnow. She decides to become a milkmaid because Norbert is the newly appointed livestock instructor in Pinnow. Being an apprentice himself in Pinnow and often bothered by his predecessor's teaching methods, he would like to show his former instructor that apprenticeship can be fun too. Norbert sees the students as responsible, mature people and tries to motivate them with more freedom and less rigor for the hard work.
