Das Mädchen Christine plot

During the Thirty Years' War, Christine, an orphan, falls in love with Colonel Count Merian. To always be with him, she puts on men's clothes and later on she even becomes his 'companion boy'. Only the laundry lady knows her secret. Gradually, Christine realizes that the man she loves has been made inhuman by the war and is no longer able to really 'feel'.
