The story follows a bestselling author from Paris named Delphine, whose new book is out. During a book signing, she comes into contact with a mysterious admirer of her work. Her life is soon influenced by this contact more and more, with unexpected events as a result.

Author Delphine Dayrieux [Emmanuelle Seigner] is busy promoting her latest book with her agent Karina [Josée Dayan], but is currently struggling with writer's block. Then she meets Elle [Eva Green], a fan who emphasizes that she has a lot in common with Delphine. The two become friends, but the question soon arises whether this new friendship is a blessing or a danger to Delphine's career and mental health. Green gives her character the right mix of charm and mystery in this reasonable paranoia thriller, but given Polanski's track record (Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby, [i]The Tenant[/i ]) in this subgenre this is a disappointment for his fans.
