The 1970s still marks a time when the narrative form within the audiovisual arts is determined by censorship. The obsessed director Kim wants to re-film the end of his latest film Cobweb. He has only two days to do this in what should become a masterpiece. But both the censors and his cast and crew members are not particularly cooperative.

Hollywood satires abound, but as far as I can remember this is the first to focus solely on the filmmaking process, leaving aside the private concerns of the cast and crew. Director Kim [Song Kang-ho] has just finished shooting his latest film “Love Like A Flame” when he has an epiphany. He begs studio chairman Baek [Jang Young-nam] to give him the chance to reshoot the finale before the sets are torn down, as he believes he can now make it a masterpiece. But he only has two days and is dealing with a tired, frustrated cast who don't understand what Kim is doing. Jee-woon interweaves “his” images with those of the crew in the film in this masterpiece with a sublime cast: Oh Jung-se (as the schlemielige Ho-se), Jeon Yeo-been (as the neurotic Mi-do) and Krystal Jung (as the temperamental Yu-rim) won prizes at various festivals. A visual and substantive masterpiece with the equally eye-catching and laughably melodramatic denouement of “Love Like A Flame” as the absolute highlight.
