Chocó plot
Choco is twenty-seven years old. She has two children, a small wooden shack on the edge of a Colombian village, an underpaid job in a gold mine, and a marimba-playing man named Everlides. This one gambles away the little money they have and at night he forces himself on her when he has had too much to drink again. Still, she truly believes that everything will get better. But then she loses her job, her daughter wants a birthday cake, and Everlides spends their last savings.
