Charlie Grant's War plot
In the early 1930s, the young Canadian Charlie Grant travels to Europe. After a tour he arrives in Vienna, where he is robbed the first evening. A Jewish couple Jacob (Rubes) and Elizabeth Goldman (Orenstein) take him under their wing. For example, he gets to know diamond dealer Paul Trefius (Boretski), who offers the young man a job. After his death, he is put in charge of his company. That's when Nazism sets in, followed by the grim anti-Semitic atmosphere. Charlie decides to remain neutral even as he sees the fear among the Jewish population growing. Austria will then be annexed by Germany.
