A mother wants her son to pursue a career as a classical pianist and become well enough to perform at the famous Carnegie Hall, where she used to work as a cleaning lady and his father was a pianist. When he's older and falls for a nightclub singer, he joins Vaughn Monroe's big band orchestra, making his mother's wish seem impossible.
