Bucking the Tiger plot

At Eslick's Grand Palace Hotel in Circle City, Alaska, five down-and-out individuals hold a meeting to decide on a way to recoup their dried-up finances. Emily Dwyer, who has come north to marry Graham after news of his success, is discouraged but is saved from suicide by MacDonald, a former football star. At his suggestion, they raise the money for a single insurance policy, to be taken out on the life of the person who draws the ace in a card game of faro.
