Bittere Kirschen plot

Lena returns to her hometown for her mother's funeral. There, in addition to her childhood sweetheart, she also meets Julius, her mother's somewhat strange friend from her childhood. Julius lived in Auschwitz as a child. Following in her mother's footsteps and looking for answers to her questions, Lena heads for Auschwitz in Poland. That's where the love between Julius and her mother had started. When Julius hears that Lena is staying in their old house again, he immediately travels to Auschwitz.
