Beyond the Fences of Lâlehzâr plot

A middle-aged man works in the Lâlehzâr neighborhood of Tehran. After an anonymous woman confronts him about his childhood, he embarks on a journey through the labyrinth of his memories. This abstract journey takes place in an abandoned theater in Lâlehzâr with peeling walls and beams of light. While a blindfolded string quartet plays atonal pieces and moving images are projected on a wall, the man remembers a dear girl from his childhood who was fond of music, dance and poetry and whose free spirit was crushed by a plot by their domineering fathers.
