Bajo el Mismo Sol plot
1819. Lazaro, a self-proclaimed Spanish explorer, and his companion Mei, a silk weaver from China, seek to bring high-quality silk to the Americas. The duo encounters Baptiste, a Haitian deserter living as a recluse in Lazaro's father's house, who offers to help them explore the wild land they seek to conquer. The three form a partnership and together face the challenges of the environment and the changing circumstances, from the terrifying jungle that seems ready to consume them to the violent French colonists who prowl the rivers in search of people to subdue or exterminate.
