Appartamento ad Atene plot

Athens 1943. An apartment is requisitioned to provide accommodation for a German officer. In the apartment live the Helianos, a middle-aged couple who used to have a good life. However, with the arrival of Captain Kalter, everything is swept away. The methodical, ascetic and cruel Kalter is a military god who only brings terror. And the Helianos give in, submissively. They are servants now, with no identity other than their resignation. The apartment envelops them like a second skin. At night they cling to each other in the pull-out bed in the kitchen. They fear the orders of the next day and they exchange sparingly short words. They are afraid to make noise, they hardly dare to move. Then, suddenly the absence. The master leaves for Germany and the servants find that this freedom has no meaning and that the ordeal continues. When Kalter returns, they have reasons to be relieved...
