Antonia is a young law student who falls in love with powerful Count Leonardt Ahrensdorff. When he is shot minutes after the wedding, Antonia inherits his fortune and his position as head of the Ahrensdorff Bank. She carries out the plans her husband has begun, despite resistance from the family. With her beauty and charming, she eventually wins everyone over, only her brother-in-law Moritz remains aloof.
