Anna Christie plot

Longtime sailor Chris Christofferson (Hans Junkermann) awaits the arrival of his adult daughter Anna (Greta Garbo), whom he left behind with a family in Minnesota at age five and has not seen since. He expects her to become a respectable, working young woman. When Anna finally arrives, it turns out that she has had a hard life in the fray of society and that her zest for life has all but disappeared. Anna falls in love with a young sailor who was rescued by her father.
