"MORE STARTLING THAN THE BOOK!"

When World War I breaks out, Ann Vickers, a serious and independent woman, falls in love with an army officer. Ann becomes pregnant, but before she can tell her great love, she is dumped. After long doubts, she decides to have an abortion. After this she throws herself into her job, ends up in prison and writes a book. Then she decides to go back to Manhattan.
