An die Grenze plot

May 1974, a month before the start of the World Cup in the Federal Republic of Germany and shortly after the resignation of Prime Minister Willy Brandt: the world is divided into two static power blocs. The border between the two areas - part of the "Iron Curtain" - runs right through Germany. Alexander Karow, son of a famous East Berlin chemistry professor, arranges a transfer to the border security forces in this very area. It is the flight from an overprotective father, who wants to get him an easy and safe job, because he expects that his son will follow in his footsteps.
