Amori di Mezzo Secolo plot
The film consists of five episodes: 1) Elena, from a noble family, loves Mario, a pianist, but her father wants her to marry a wealthy aristocrat. 2) In the years before World War I, a doctor condones adultery between his patients, until he discovers that his wife is cheating on him too. 3) During World War I, Carmela marries Antonio and soon becomes pregnant. But then Antonio has to go to the front and he dies the day his baby is born. 4) In October 1922, Alberto, a strong defender of fascism, leaves his city and his betrothed to go to Rome. There, his political enthusiasm slowly disappears into nightclubs and superficial adventures. Until he finds out that his fiancée has traveled after him. 5) The tragic love story between the pilot Renato and the chorister Carla, set against the background of the bombing of Naples in 1943.
