Alles Stroomt plot

Damiaan (Wieger Windhorst) has passed his final exams and is leaving his parental home to move into rooms. His mother (Anneke Blok), who raised him alone after her husband's death, meets a new love, a boatman. When she goes to live with him everything changes; there is no longer a parental home and mother and son live more and more at odds and lose sight of each other. The question is whether mother-son love overcomes this.

Somewhat long-winded, but in any case a good film that describes the tensions that new relationships and the pursuit of independence in young people can entail, in a simple, recognizable and excellent way.

I thought the actors were fine, especially Anneke Blok (Sometimes reminded me of Brenda Blethyn in some mother role).

mastered.

Beautiful understated drama that tells the story of the relationship between mom and son. What I especially liked was that it is quite recognizable. Although I do not approve of Damiaan's actions and events (what a name) at all and I actually think it is a bit silly, I understand that it is difficult in a mother-son relationship and I do recognize certain emotions in it, which made the film experience special for me personally.

Anneke Blok is someone the Netherlands can be proud of, to say the least, she does everything so sweetly and with conviction that she really is a stay-at-home mom where everyone feels welcome. Would love to see her as a totally different kind of character once, although I only know her from All is Love...

The film is not that special, just maintained and good. Rather cheap ending, and also the events, audiovisually and in terms of cast, are not very special. Nice projects in the student house (eg that window frame wall!), always nice to see such things.

Just good 3 stars

Slightly unbalanced film. The main events are quickly rushed right at the beginning; the new relationship, the son who leaves the house head over heels, the mother who gets rid of the house..., so that it becomes hardly palpable, I didn't believe it at all. Then the film ripples along in the lowest gear. Not unpleasant to watch, but there's just too little going on.
