At the Mexican coral reef Banco Chinchorro they dive every day for snappers, drink their cups of coffee and maintain the fishing boat. Life seems ideal: their days consist of eating fish by the sea where it was caught, with wet hair from diving. But parting approaches between Jorge and his son, who returns to Italy with his mother.

A modest low budget quasi-documentary / home / holiday / tourist promo video about a father who goes fishing with his son, with respect for each other and nature.

Father goes fishing with son is also about the entire script of the film. I thought it was all 'just' what is shown here, I am really surprised at the high score. 'The strength is in the simplicity', but you can also go too far in that regard, and that's what's going on here as far as I'm concerned.

I myself regularly visit coastal towns, which means that the images at sea from this film have no added value for me, certainly not compared to sitting on such a boat myself or feeling and smelling the sun and the sea breeze ashore. So if that doesn't offer any added value, there will be very little left in this film.

The film is too simple, too empty to really interest me, too thin. 2 stars.

Comes across as a documentary with the difference that the characters simply move in front of the camera, playing themselves in the most natural way.

I really liked the combination between grandfather, father and son without it ever becoming debauched.

And of course there are the beautiful nature images.

Calm, refreshing film.

The film has something documentary-like and is especially very observational. We follow a divorced father who takes his child to unforgettable places. They go fishing, enjoy nature and especially each other. Quality time in the highest degree. Great moments to share with your child and in the meantime give him life wisdom and much more.

Peaceful and pleasant, combined with beautiful images of nature, but it could have been a bit more for me, especially on a cinematic level. A film of simplicity, but I lacked substance.
