Al-Boustaguy plot

Abbas Hussein is a postman from Cairo who is promoted to postmaster of a remote village in the south. His life and work there are mind-numbing, filled with boredom and loneliness, and surrounded by a backward, hostile, and misunderstood population of peasants and petty officials. He unwittingly takes part in the life of Jamilah, the teenage daughter of a brutal farmer, who has an illicit and risky affair with her best friend's brother.
