Ahmed Gassiaux plot

Ahmed Gassiaux loses his parents during the hostilities between Moroccans and French in Taza in 1924. He is taken in by Lieutenant Bourget, who develops sympathy for the child and protects it until he unfortunately dies a few months later. An intimate friend of Bourget's, Gassiaux, takes Ahmed under his wing, as he had promised under oath to Bourget, and gives him a good education, but without giving him fatherly love. Ahmed is a brilliant student and begins a career as an agricultural engineer in the service of the colonization. However, all kinds of events are reawakening his national feeling in Ahmed and he supports the struggle for independence that should lead to the return of King Mohamed V, a return for which Ahmed is willing to fight and give up a lot.
