A Woman of Substance plot

Emma Harte transformed from kitchen helper in the early 1900s to a successful businesswoman and grandmother in 1980. She started with a small shop but expanded her empire by taking advantage of the growing textile industry in Leeds. By the time World War II arrives, Emma is running a huge company. Although her business was thriving, her private life was in shambles. With children from several marriages and a tragic accident, the family affairs were very complicated. But the worst is yet to come, because around 1980 her children try to take over her company by evicting her, but Emma is far from being a senile old woman and starts a brutal counteraction to stop them.

The highest rated miniseries on Channel 4 in the UK. It's quite a long ride, and that doesn't even include the sequels. Later Hold the Dream and [url=https://www.moviemeter.nl/film/30463]To Be the Best[/ url] still released. Still, this miniseries remains entertaining to watch, and the hours fly by quickly.
