A Question of Adultery plot
"Artificial Insemination - the burning problem of today"
There are many tensions in the marriage of married couple Mary and Mark Loring due to Mark's passionate car racing hobby and sickly jealousy. When Mary then becomes pregnant, she hopes that a baby will bring them both back together. Unfortunately, Mark and Mary have a terrible car accident, which causes Mary to lose her baby and Mark becomes infertile. This makes Mary all the more desperate to have a child and she proposes artificial insemination. Mark is against this at first, but still agrees. But after the insemination has taken place, Mark changes his mind, partly under the influence of his father Sir John Loring. Sir John is even pushing for a divorce.
