A Little Girl in a Big City plot

Mary Barry, a small-town girl, wins a beauty pageant and goes to New York to meet DV Cortelyou, a magazine publisher. Cortelyou is very taken by the young girl and arranges for her to live with Dolly Griffith, a woman of dubious reputation, who often aids him in his evil schemes of blackmail and seduction. During a party ostensibly in Mary's honor, Cortelyou obtains a seemingly compromising piece of evidence that allows him to blackmail Mrs. Young, the wife of a wealthy real estate agent.
