Matsoukas, an American of Greek descent, lives in Chicago with his ailing wife and son. When his son turns out to be terminally ill, Matsoukas considers that the climate in Greece could help his son. Only the money for the flight is still missing and his sources of income have dried up. Setting up a game of dice seems to be the outcome for Matsoukas.
