A Bell for Adano plot

American Major Joppolo (John Hodiak) provides a new clock for the Sicilian village of Adano. There he falls in love with a fisherman's beautiful daughter Tina (Gene Tierney). However, Tina awaits the return of his prisoner of war fiancée. She is told that he was killed and she confesses her love for Joppolo. But Joppolo who is already married returns to America...
