"They proved the Vegas Blackjack System was beatable...by beating the hell out of it."

To pay for his tuition, shy but brilliant Ben Campbell (Jim Sturgess) and a select group of top students go to Las Vegas every weekend. The goal: to use their knowledge to manipulate the outcomes of blackjack. Led by unorthodox math professor and statistics genius Micky Rosa (Kevin Spacey), they crack the code and beat the casinos time and time again. Seduced by the big money, the Vegas lifestyle, and his sexy teammate Jill Taylor (Kate Bosworth), Ben pushes the boundaries. But he must keep his mind to the cards and outsmart Cole Williams (Laurence Fishburne)'s casino security. Otherwise, the millions they won can be very expensive.

Been curious about it for some time, but what a long-winded, predictable and lifeless film this is. Kevin Spacey is fortunately still a successful addition, but we already know similar stories from perhaps 1000 other films and the progress is super slow and lacks any kind of tension.

The film is also way too long at 2 hours, a story that easily fits within 90 minutes and would have even had enough of 80.
And then the last 20 minutes where you keep thinking it's over but another scene keeps coming up to work it all out to the saddest and "settle it" that made damn plot twists it's not exactly better either.
And as has already been stated by several users, it is also very strange that they take exactly the same casino every time?

The design is good, the execution is very easy and boring.
1*

Not special because quite standard but nice and smooth with a nice, fairly long one at the end

chase that heralds the surprisingly intended denouement you've been waiting for

but it was well executed.

Good acting by most of the actors and especially by Spacey. Laurence Fishburne

again charismatic. The film may have its flaws, but I also think it has

hardly intending to be taken too seriously. An unpretentious film that I purely like

entertainment was quite successful.
