Yours in Sisterhood plot
The idea is simple and powerful: Somewhere in modern-day America, a woman reads a forty-year-old letter to Ms. in front of. Founded in 1972, this magazine was the first mainstream feminist magazine in the United States. Filmmaker Irene Lusztig carefully searched through the letter archive and looked for suitable letter readers – writer and reader have more in common than just their place of residence. A police officer reads a letter from someone who couldn't get a job as a cop or security guard just because she was a woman. At a gas station, the frustrations of a garage owner who had never been taken seriously are finally given a voice. Sometimes the letters are read by the writer of the time. How do they look back on the women they were then?
