"You might as well embrace the dread"

Ben, a journalist, is exhausted by the constant crises he reports on. He decides to travel from Berlin to London, Kansas, Norway, and finally to the Chicxulub crater in Mexico, the epicenter of ultimate loss. There, he wants to learn from those who are preparing for social and ecological collapse—whether you call them preppers, doomsayers, or bunker dwellers. The “collapse community” is much larger than Ben originally thought.
