Wastecooking: Kochen Was Andere Verschwenden plot

"Make food, Not waste"

Worldwide, a third of food ends up in the waste bin. Austrian activist David Gross wants to change that. In his car, which runs on cooking oil, he embarks on a five-week journey through five European countries. The trailer behind his car, a dumpster converted into a mini kitchen, is used to prepare dishes from discarded food. Together with chefs, scientists and activists, simple solutions against waste are offered. For example, a Dutch cook explains how he uses everything from a pig carcass, and how he lives in a Berlin commune on wild fruits that grow in the city. The camera also follows Gross into the kitchen, at random people's homes, looking at what they plan to throw in the trash. The edibles are collected, after which a culinary expert turns them into a luxurious dinner. Gross tries to wake up the viewer by showing how much companies, supermarkets and consumers are wasting…
