Warffum 22.05.62 plot

Documentary made by Van Gasteren following the commissioning of the telephone exchange in Warffum, Groningen. With this, the automation of the Dutch telephone network—as the second country in the world to do so—became a reality. The film focuses not so much on the technology itself, but on the human labor and intelligence that ultimately made the connections possible. The filmmaker also follows a number of ordinary citizens who gratefully use the new telecommunication system every day.
